2010-2011 Fall Registration

Fall Registration:

Thank you to everyone that helped make registration a success!  Classes are beginning to fill and we are very excited about the new year.

For those of you that have not yet registered, please do so as soon as possibleDo not wait until the first day of class as this will be a very busy day and the registration process takes a bit of time for each family.  You may come during office hours listed below. 

Monday – Wednesday 9:00am – 2:00pm
Friday 9:00am – 2:00pm

If you cannot attend the hours posted above, please contact the LSM office to set up a registration appointment: office@leonardschoolofmusic.com or call (843) 745-5908. 

At registration, you will receive a rehearsal schedule and calendar of events.  School classes will begin the week of September 6th, with the first band rehearsal being held Saturday, September 11th.

All students interested in playing in Jazz I for the 2010-2011 school year must be placed by audition.  Interested students need to contact Maralee Barela at the Leonard School of Music to be scheduled an audition time.  Email Maralee.Barela@leonardschoolofmusic.com.  If you are interested in participating in Jazz Combo, let Mrs. Barela know at that time. 

Requirements for Audition

1. Major Scales: 5 scales in chromatic order, full range of instrument

2. Blues Scales: concert F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, and C

3. Prepared Etude: all etudes are selected from “Jazz Conception” by Jim Snidero, published by Advance Music.  Books can be purchased on any online website.  If you prefer we hope to have copies available in the office after July 15th.

All Saxes: Tunisia, pgs. 40-41, track 20, play from the beginning through
measure 31.
Trumpet: IND Line, pgs. 24-25, track 12. Play ms. 1-37
(Potential lead players play ms. 26-31 8va)
Trombone: Proxy, pgs. 20-21, track 10. Play ms. 32 to the end (8va is optional)
Bass Trombone: Proxy, pgs. 20-21, track 10. Play ms. 32 to the end
Guitar/(Vibes): Proxy, pgs. 20-21, track 10. Play beginning through ms. 31 as written; then play 32 to the end comping using the chords provided with the etude.
Piano: (Use the Solo Etudes, not the Piano Comping book)
Proxy, pgs. 27-29, track 8.  Play beginning through ms. 31 as written; then play 32 to the end comping using the chords provided with the etude.
Bass: (Use the Solo Etudes, not the Bass Lines book)
Proxy, pgs. 20-21, track 10. Play beginning through ms. 31 as written; then play 33 to the end with a walking bass line using the chords provided with the etude.
Drumset: Tunisia, pgS. 62-63, track 18, Play beginning through ms 32 AS WRITTEN.  Then play from the lead sheet on pg. 24 ms. 33to the end in a swing style with the ensemble hits as notated.
